25 godina filmske čarolije
Ove jeseni, ili bolje rečeno ovog babljeg ljeta, po 25. put će se u kinu Borak u Širokom Brijegu zavrtjeti filmska čarolija. Od 8. do 12. listopada u ovom će se kinu, sagrađenom 1948. godine, održati 25. Mediteran Film Festival – jedan od najšarmantnijih filmskih događaja u ovom dijelu Europe, koji sljubljuje film, glazbu, književnost, turizam, enologiju i gastronomiju.
Te 2000. ekipa filmskih zaljubljenika iz ovog hercegovačkog grada odlučila je osnovati filmski festival. Bilo je to za Široki Brijeg nešto posve novo, no ne i bez smisla: kultura gledanja filmova ovdje je bila duža od 50 godina. Prvi prikazani film bio je „Zoja“ ruskog redatelja Leva Arnshtama iz 1944. godine, a najveću gledanost imao je film „Sjaj u travi“ u režiji Elia Kazana iz 1961. godine – film je vidjelo nekoliko tisuća Širokobriježana.
S druge strane, dok su se kina u Zagrebu, Sarajevu, Mostaru gasila, i na njihova mjesta došli multiplexi, kino Borak je 1999. godine obnovljeno. Tako da je osnivanje filmskog festivala u Širokom Brijegu već na startu imalo tradiciju i publiku.
No trebalo je poslati još neku poruku i imati cilj. A cilj je bio – utemeljiti kinematografiju u Hercegovini, razviti svijest o snazi filma, zainteresirati mlade da se bave sedmom umjetnošću. Ideja o utemeljenju i razvoju kinematografije razvijala se kroz tri područja: organizacijom festivala, proizvodnjom filmova i edukacijom.
Kad je u pitanje prvo područje, ono je dobilo lice kroz Mediteran Film Festival, danas svakako jedan od najrespektabilnijih festivala dokumentarnog filma na Mediteranu. Nametnuo se dobrom energijom, ljubaznošću, susretljivošću, visokom produkcijom, i mediteranskim štihom zbog kojega odskače od mora sličnih festivala.
Kroz 25 godina u Široki Brijeg su došli natjecatelji iz Izraela, Sirije, Libanona, Egipta, Alžira, Francuske, Grčke, Turske, Crne Gore, Španjolske, Italije, Slovenije… a s njima i ljubitelja filma i turisti iz gotovo svih zemalja svijeta.
U Široki Brijeg na festival je prije 15 godina stigla egipatska redateljica koja je kasnije vodila pobunu protiv Hosnija Mubaraka.
Na MFF-u je bila Palestinka koja se udala za Židova. Na MFF su mjesecima putovala braća iz Sirije koji su snimili sjajan film i odnijeli
nagradu.
Na MFF je jedne godine zalutala bogata ali konzervativna obitelj iz Kuvajta, koja je na kraju bila oduševljena festivalom i Hercegovinom.
Ovdje su bili filmski autori koji su mijenjali svoje zemlje, rušili loše zakone i potencirali dobre ideje.
U žirijima su bili svi važni redatelji iz Hrvatske, BiH i okolnih zemalja.
Na festivalu su svirali Goran Bare, TBF, Vlado Kreslin…
Kad je u pitanju proizvodnja filmova, Mediteran Film Festival se uključio u produkciju i koprodukciju filmova, te je zaslužan za desetke dokumentarnih filmova. Danas pomaže mladim ljudima da razvijaju svoje ideje, a pomaže im financijski i organizacijski u snimanu filmova.
Kad je, na koncu, u pitanju edukcija, Mediteran Film Festival je prije 12 godina pokrenuo snažnu međunarodnu filmsku školu MFF School koju je razvio u suradnji s Filmskim kampom za mlade „Outside The Lens“ iz San Diega (SAD). Školu je pohađalo stotine djevojaka i mladića iz BiH, SAD-a, Hrvatske, Slovenije, te stvorila jedan nevjerojatan most prijateljstva i umjetnosti među tim mladim ljudima.
Kao izravni efekt ovog 25-godišnjeg filmskog rada, prije nekoliko godina je na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Širokom Brijegu pokrenut diplomski studij Video montaža i režija.
Mediteran Film Festival je svojom visokom produkcijom i organizacijom učinio film najživljom kulturom u Hercegovini.
